How to Get an Accurate Rebar Machine Quote
How to Get an Accurate Rebar Machine Quote
Most rebar machine quotes go wrong before the supplier ever opens the email. The buyer sends "I need a rebar bending machine" and receives a price for a machine that bends 12mm bar at 40 pieces per hour — when the job actually requires 32mm bar at 300 pieces per hour. The quote is not wrong; the input was incomplete. This guide covers exactly what to send so your quote from any manufacturer, including Gongda (China Rebar Machinery), matches your job the first time.
1. Bar Diameter and Steel Grade
Diameter drives machine class more than any other factor. A machine rated for 25mm round steel will not run 32mm ribbed bar at production speed, and a 50mm machine is wasted money on a 16mm stirrup job.
- State the maximum diameter, not the average. "Mostly 12mm, sometimes 32mm" means you need a 32mm machine.
- Distinguish round steel from ribbed (deformed) bar. Ribbed bar requires more shear force and different bending tooling. The GQ50A, for example, cuts 6–50mm round but 6–36mm ribbed — a 50mm ribbed requirement pushes you to the GQ70A.
- Include steel grade (HRB400, HRB500, B500B, etc.). Higher grades increase required tonnage and affect tooling hardness.
- Mention coil or straight bar. Coiled material changes the feeding method and may require a straightening unit ahead of the machine.
2. Shapes, Bending Geometry and Stirrup Types
Two buyers can both need "a bender" and need completely different machines. Send drawings or a shape list with dimensions.
- For stirrups: send the stirrup drawing with side lengths, hook type (90°, 135°, seismic hooks), and whether you need single or double line. A GW25 single-head CNC stirrup bender handles round steel up to 25mm; five-head machines like the ZD-6M-25 and ZD-6M-20 are for high-volume stirrup production where one machine feeds multiple bending heads.
- For arc bending: specify radius, arc length, and whether the arc is on a single plane. The GWH50CG and GWH50CZN handle 50mm arc bending; the SKDZWH-36 and GDWHWQ-36 cover 36mm CNC arc work.
- For 3D or multi-plane parts: you are in bending-center territory. The GDLWZX-32 vertical bending center (32mm) and GDPMW-60 plane bending center (60mm) handle complex geometries that a single-axis bender cannot.
- For large-diameter CNC work: the GJZD6-50CZ bends up to 50mm on a 420mm working table; the GJZD6-65CZ extends to 65mm.
A photo of a finished bundle, with a tape measure in frame, is often more useful than a CAD file.
3. Output: Pieces per Hour, Not "High Capacity"
Output determines whether you need one machine or a production line. Give the supplier three numbers:
- Required pieces per shift (or per hour) for each part type.
- Number of shifts per day and days per week.
- Bends per piece — a 4-bend stirrup takes roughly four times the cycle time of a single-bend bar.
This is where automation pays for itself. If your volume justifies it, a hydraulic rebar shearing production line such as the GDQX-500 replaces manual feeding and cutting with continuous operation. For straightening and cutting, the YGT4-15A handles 4–15mm with a variable frequency drive, which matters when you run mixed diameters in one shift.
4. Power Supply and Site Conditions
Voltage mismatches cause more delivery delays than any mechanical issue. Send:
- Voltage and phase: 380V/50Hz three-phase, 440V/60Hz, 220V single-phase, etc.
- Frequency: 50Hz or 60Hz. Latin America and the Middle East commonly run 60Hz; Russia and Europe run 50Hz.
- Control voltage and plug standards if your site has specific requirements.
- Available floor space and ceiling height, especially for bending centers and shearing lines that need infeed and outfeed clearance.
- Indoor or outdoor installation, and ambient temperature range if you operate in extreme climates.
5. Destination Country and Certification
The destination determines certification, documentation, and shipping configuration.
- Certification: Russia and EAEU countries require EAC certification. Gongda can supply EAC-certified machines. Ask early — certification affects lead time.
- Documentation language: manuals and control interfaces in English, Russian, Spanish, or another language should be confirmed in the quote.
- Shipping: FOB, CIF, or DDP; nearest port; container type. Bending centers and shearing lines often ship in 40HQ containers, while single machines like the GD-350ZD band saw or HGS-40 thread rolling machine ship LCL or in smaller containers.
- Spare parts and tooling: request a recommended spare parts list with the quote, including bending pins, cutting blades, and dies sized to your bar diameters.
6. A Practical Quote Request Template
Copy this into your inquiry email:
- Machine type needed (e.g., CNC stirrup bender, arc bender, shearing line)
- Max bar diameter and steel grade (round / ribbed)
- Shapes: drawings or photos with dimensions, hooks, radii
- Output: pieces per hour, bends per piece, shifts per day
- Power: voltage, phase, frequency
- Destination country and port
- Certification required (EAC, CE, etc.)
- Documentation language
- Spare parts and tooling requirements
Send this and you will get a quote with a specific model number, capacity figures, and a realistic lead time — not a generic price list. For reference, a 25mm stirrup job typically points to the GW25 or ZD-6M-25; a 50mm bending job to the GJZD6-50CZ or GWH50CG; a high-volume cutting operation to the GDQX-500 line or GQ70A with 160-ton shear force.
