Rebar Machine Maintenance Checklist
Rebar Machine Maintenance Checklist: Daily, Weekly and Monthly Schedules That Prevent Downtime
Every hour a CNC rebar bending center or hydraulic shearing line sits idle, your project schedule slips and your cost per ton climbs. Most breakdowns on rebar processing equipment do not happen without warning — they build up through missed lubrication, worn blades and neglected dies. This checklist covers the practical maintenance routines for the machines most commonly exported by China Rebar Machinery (Gongda), from the GJZD6-50CZ bending center to the GQ70A cutting machine and HGS-40 thread roller.
Daily Checks (Start and End of Shift)
Daily routines take 10–15 minutes and catch the majority of developing faults.
- Lubrication points: Grease the bending spindle and turntable bearings on CNC bending centers such as the GJZD6-50CZ and GJZD6-65CZ. On stirrup benders like the GW25, check the wire feed rollers and bending head pins.
- Hydraulic oil level and temperature: On the GDQX-500 hydraulic shearing line and GQ70A cutter, verify oil is between the min/max marks and that the tank temperature stays below 60°C during continuous operation.
- Blade and die condition: Inspect cutting blades on the GQ50A and GQ70A for chipping. A dull blade on a 160-ton shear increases shock load on the hydraulic system and shortens pump life.
- Air and electrical: Drain water from air line filters (critical for the HGS-40 thread rolling machine and NB-500 MIG welder). Check for loose terminal connections and unusual noise from motors.
- Safety devices: Confirm emergency stops, guards and limit switches on the GDLWZX-32 vertical bending center function correctly before production starts.
Weekly Maintenance Tasks
- Clean and inspect dies: Remove rebar scale and debris from bending dies on the GDWQ4-15A forming machine and GWH50CG arc bender. Scale buildup changes bend radius and accelerates die wear.
- Check hydraulic hoses and fittings: Look for weeping joints, cracked hose covers or abrasion on the GDQX-500 shearing line. Replace any hose showing wire reinforcement exposure.
- Thread rolling dies: On the HGS-40, check roller dies for pitting and verify the parallelism of the three rollers. Worn dies produce undersized or galled threads that fail inspection.
- Straightening rollers: On the YGT4-15A straightening and cutting machine, inspect rollers for flat spots and confirm the VFD-driven feed speed matches the set length accuracy.
- Band saw blade tracking: On the GD-350ZD band saw, check blade tension, guide bearing clearance and chip brush contact.
Monthly and Quarterly Service
- Hydraulic oil analysis or replacement: Change or filter hydraulic oil every 2,000 operating hours, or sooner in dusty environments common in Middle East and African job sites. Replace return-line filters at the same interval.
- Gearbox and reducer oil: Drain and refill gearboxes on the ZD-6M-25 and ZD-6M-20 five-head stirrup machines. Check for metal particles in the drained oil — a sign of gear wear.
- Calibration: Recalibrate bend angles and cutting lengths on CNC models (GJZD6-65CZ, GDPMW-60 plane bending center, SKDZWH-36 arc bender). Verify servo positioning against a test sample.
- Electrical panel: Tighten busbar and contactor terminals, clean cooling fans and verify overload relay settings. Heat and vibration loosen connections over time.
- Structural inspection: Check anchor bolts, frame welds and wear plates on high-tonnage equipment such as the GQ70A and GDQX-500.
Blades, Dies and Consumables: When to Replace
Consumable condition directly determines cut quality and machine load. Replace cutting blades when edge rounding exceeds 0.3 mm or when cutting force noticeably rises. On thread rolling machines, rotate dies at half their service life and replace as a set — mixing worn and new dies causes thread taper. For bending dies, replace when the bend radius drifts beyond drawing tolerance or when surface cracking appears. Keep a spare set of blades and dies on site; sourcing replacements from the original manufacturer (Gongda, Hefei) ensures dimensional compatibility with models like the GW25, HGS-40 and GQ50A.
Lubrication Quick Reference
- Daily: Bending pins, turntable, feed rollers, wire guides.
- Weekly: Open gears, chains, band saw guides, thread roller spindles.
- Monthly: Grease nipples on shearing line pivot points, arc bender arms (GWH50CZN, GDWHWQ-36).
- Per manual: Gearbox and hydraulic oil intervals — never extend beyond manufacturer specification.
Why Maintenance Matters for Export Buyers
Buyers in Russia, Latin America, Southeast Asia and the Middle East often run machines in high-dust, high-temperature conditions. A documented maintenance schedule protects your investment and keeps EAC-certified equipment compliant and productive. China Rebar Machinery supports export customers with spare parts, lubrication specifications and remote troubleshooting for the full range — CNC bending centers, stirrup benders, shearing lines, thread rollers, spring making machines (ZDTHJ-12) and NB-350/NB-500 welders.
